At the International Alpaca Association, we believe that every event is an opportunity to strengthen the community, share knowledge, and spread the legacy of alpaca fibre throughout the world.
Alpaca Fiesta
Since its creation, the AIA has been the organiser of ALPACA FIESTA, the most important alpaca event worldwide, aimed at promoting and spreading alpaca fibre in the global textile market. It brings together breeders, companies, and institutions linked to the alpaca world in a festive and highly competitive environment.
ALPACA FIESTA is a registered trademark of the AIA, and since 2014 it has been co-organised in partnership with PROMPERU–MINCETUR. The first edition of ALPACA FIESTA was held in 1997, and the eighth edition took place in Arequipa from October 21 to 26, 2024, together with PERU MODA DECO, on the occasion of the International Year of Camelids.
Natural Fibre Connect
The AIA is co-organiser of Natural Fibre Connect (NFC), an international conference that brings together the challenges of the alpaca, cashmere, wool and mohair industries.
The first edition of NFC was held in 2022, and the fourth edition took place in person on September 22 and 23, 2025, in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
National Alpaca Day
The AIA, in partnership with ASCALPE and on behalf of the Regional Camelid Board of Arequipa, organises various activities every August 1st to commemorate National Alpaca Day, established by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation of Peru.
As part of this celebration, an academic forum is held featuring speakers who address topics relevant to the sector, along with alpaca exhibitions, recognition of outstanding breeders, artisans and entrepreneurs, fashion shows, and other activities.
